The Arizona Desert Lamp

Candidate filing deadline extended

Posted in Campus, Politics by Evan Lisull on 27 January 2009

A few days ago, I wrote about some of the absurdity of applying to be an ASUA candidate. Now, it seems, the Elections Commission is slightly easing up:

This email pertains to the due date of the ASUA Elections Candidate Packet which has been pushed to a week later. So instead of packets being due by Monday, February 2, 2009 by 12pm in the ASUA office, all candidate packets are due on Monday, February 9, 2009 by 12pm in the ASUA office.

One of two things has happened — either the Desert Lamp is driving ASUA policy, or the turnout for candidates is even lower than it has been in years past. I’m certain that it’s the latter, which is a fairly disappointing, if not entirely surprising development.

But hey — that means that budding collegiate Guns and Dope Party still has a chance to make its move!
