ASUA Election 2009 Candidates

Posted in Campus, Politics by Evan Lisull on 13 February 2009

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 ASUA Election Candidates!

A few notes here:

1. Searches for both Ryan Ruiz and Daniel Wallace yield multiple entries on a search of the UA site. If either of these candidates could confirm their email addresses in the comments, we’d be most appreciative.

2. There’s also a bit of confusion over who is or is not a write-in candidate, as far as the Administrative Vice President and President positions are concerned. We’ll have more on that in the coming days.

Were you at the meeting? Nagata was announced by good ol’ Commissioner Kenny as a write-in candidate…is Ziccarelli a write-in? I don’t remember exactly.

So many Senators. They’ll have to compete like crazy.

Jimi: From my understanding, Nagata and Ziccarelli are both write-ins.

However, if Ziccarelli is only a write-in, then that means that there will be no listed names for AVP — which, admittedly, will be pretty odd.

Furthermore, the Elections Code has its own regulations for write-in candidates — but suppose that Gabby is beaten by a “write-in” who wasn’t registered as such. Shouldn’t that person still win? It’s all very odd, and not clearly defined.
